told the Town Council last Wednesday that he and Mayor Dean Morehouse returned from a state grant workshop with an application and a lot of work to do in the next 60 days. Holding up the inch-thick Community Development Block Grant application forms and its accompanying instructions, Mr. Fisher said the council must hold two public hearings on the project and return the completed application by March 10.

The Amissville Post Office announced that William “Red” Payne has retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years of service. It came as no surprise last week after an executive session for personnel the Rappahannock School Board reappointed Dr. David Gangel to a four-year term as superintendent of schools. “We indeed are very fortunate to have him as superintendent,” said Chairman Beverly Massie. The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday for their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Debbie Massie. Plans for the upcoming fashion show will be discussed.
