Come meet the sheriff

Rappahannock residents are invited to help unite the county and come meet the new sheriff and his department on Sunday, Feb. 7 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Washington Fire Department. Sheriff Larry Sherertz wants to hear from you. He invites residents to bring their questions and concerns to the meeting.

Boosters to meet

The Rappahannock Band Booster meeting will be held Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Rappahannock High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome.

Ragged Mountain activities set

The following activities are scheduled through Ragged Mountain Resource Center or more information may be obtained by calling Hunt Harris the center, 987-3366:

Saturday, Jan. 30: Women’s hike series: Destination Mary’s Rock, meet at Mountainside Market by 9 a.m. or at Panorama parking lot by 9:30 a.m., bring layered clothing and food for self, back by mid-afternoon. Contact Mary Boudreau Bittinger at 987-9200 or 987-9300.

4-H Winter Camp planned

The Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock 4-H Winter Camp will be held the weekend of Feb. 19-21 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center near Front Royal. Campers between the ages of 9-14 may attend. If you are not currently enrolled in 4-H, you can easily enroll and attend this camp. The weekend theme will be “Swinging to the Oldies” and the cost for the camp is $63. Registration forms are available at the Extension Office and Rappahannock County Elementary and High Schools. Super Sitters workshop set

There will be a Super Sitters workshop for 4-H mem- ' bers, age 12 and older at the Rappahannock office of ] Virginia Cooperative Extension, Saturday, Jan. 23 from 9 | a.m. to 4 p.m. This class will provide participants with ] many of the things they should consider when working with children.

The workshop will emphasize the physical safety and ! security of the child while covering the importance of such J needs as companionship, understanding and patience. The ; program is designed to help participants understand the ■ responsibilities of babysitting while providing ideas of age I appropriate activities.
