I will use this easier, less cumbersome name, for it is as Myrtle Warbler that I think of this little bird with the bright yellow spot on its rump.
After molting into breeding plumage, the Myrtle Warbler is a handsome bird. The male is blue-gray above with an inverted “U” of black on his white breast. He sports a black mask and has bright yellow patches on his head, rump and sides of the breast.
The female also has yellow patches. Where the male is black, she is gray. Both male and female have a white throat.
