Lt. David Solesbee started last week a second career at the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office by being put in charge of one of its biggest cases in 20 years: the armed robbery at Mayhugh’s Store on U.S. 211 Jan. 10.
Solesbee, an Amissville resident who is retired from the Fairfax County police department, comes with 10 years of criminal investigation experience.
“We have a good lead on a suspect,” said Solesbee last Friday.
“We believe he has been down this road before, because he only wanted cash, not checks or change.”
Given that Rappahannock County has had no armed robberies in the last 16 years, Solesbee believes the gunman came from outside the county.
