Traffic stop
results in arrest
A traffic stop by a Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office deputy resulted in the arrest of an Amissville man on charges of operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
Dep. Connie Compton was driving near Amissville on Jan. 31 when she saw a motor vehicle operated by Jeffrey Paul Sanders, 20, on U. S. 211 near the intersection with Route 621.
Knowing that Sanders’ license had been suspended, Dep. Compton pulled him over. After confirming that Sanders’ license had not been reinstated, she arrested him. A subsequent search of the vehicle, reportedly owned by his girlfriend, uncovered the marijuana.
Sanders has been charged with both offenses.
Chain saws stolen
Three Stihl chain saws were reported stolen from a bam on Horseshoe Hollow Lane near Washington.
According to Sheriff Larry Sherertz, the owner of the chain saws had last used them at his property on Jan. 25. When he returned to pick them up four days latfer, the chain saws were gone.
Stolen were two Stihl model 066 chain saws with 25-inch bars, and one model 044 with a 20inch bar. Sherertz estimated the value of the saws at around $2,000, making the theft a grand larceny. Capt. Jeffrey H. Brown is the investigating officer.
The Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the theft of a pressure tank and other items tnm a construction site on Rolling Road near Sperryville reported on Jan. 26. Dep. Roger Jenkins is izmatigating.
