But what are Flagel and Blackburn looking for on these applications?
“There is nothing as important as the student’s academic record. That is the best indicator of college success,” savs Flagel.
Flagel feels extra curriculars and SAT scores are less significant than a student’s grades. He adds that if students are involved in afterschool activities it should be for their own enjoyment, not to impress admission’s officers. Trying to pick and choose extra curriculars based on how they will look on an application, he say6, “is just a lousy way to spend your high school career.”
