Women Council Installed in Impressive Ceremony With a dignity indicative of their determination to do a good job, the ladies of Washington's municipal government took over the reigns in induction ceremonies Friday afternoon, Sept. 1. About 300 local citizens and visitors were on hand to beam with pride when the ladies presented a picture worthy to accompany the county's natural beauty. The county is getting prepared to amend its bragging: everyone knows Rappahannock is the "Land of Finest Livestock and Apples," and after the ceremonies, the folks are beginning to realize that the good-looking ladies are an asset to join the ranks of the county listing. On a stand on the courthouse lawn, the ladies replied firmly when the oath of office was administered by the Hon. William F. Moffett Jr. Photographers and reporters were present from Collier's magazine, Life, The Evening StarBand The Washington Post.
