“I learned about some pretty cool telescopes and why we only see one face of the moon,” she said.
Patorni explained during his lecture, by using two audience members as visual aides, that the moon rotates on its own axis at the same time that it rotates around the earth. Thus, even though it makes a complete rotation on its own axis only one side is ever seen on earth.
County resident Robert Weinberg also learned from the evening’s presentation.
He was especially impressed with the way Patorni had given “perspective” to the distance from one star to the next.
