The Dietels only son, Fritz, an accomplished artist who has a number of his art objects in the family home, fashioned a wooden sculpture from strips of old cypress paneling that was about to be thrown out. In his Philadelphia studio “with every wood working tool imaginable,” Fritz Dietel cut, heated in a huge oven, bent and then crafted strips of cypress into a design which he calls “Swish.”
