The wildlife team wanted to census small mammal populations within the plot. They used patches of wet- sand that were baited to attract animals. The hope was there would be footprints to use for identification. They had some luck identifying a raccoon, but usually the prints belonged to a few neighborhood dogs that liked the baits as well.
The aquatics team studied the salamander population on the plot and tried to correlate where they found salamanders to the moisture levels measured. They found salamanders but did not find a connection with moisture levels.
