Feb. 9: Picking Party "

Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be having their Picking Party on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department at 6 p.m. All bluegrass and country bands are welcome. There will be a 50/50 raffle. The Fire Department Auxiliary will be selling refreshments. Come out and enjoy a great night of fun and food in an alcohol and smoke free environment. The deadline for taking Virginia Master Naturalist training with the Old Rag Chapter—which serves Madison, Rappahannock, Greene, Culpeper, and western Fauquier and Orange counties—has been extended until Feb. 10. The Virginia Master Naturalist Program is a statewide corps of trained volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities. Certification, which is done through local chapters, requires 40 hours of initial training, and 8 hours of advanced training and 40 hours of volunteer service each year. The training will be Tuesdays, 8-9 p.m., March 4-May 20. The location will alternate between Madison and Rappahannock counties.
