The instruments to be used nre particularly appropriate to this repertoire. Mr. Weavers harpsichord, a copy of a 1736 German instrument of the type well known to Bach, was made by Thomas and Barbara Wolf, whose workshop in The Plains continues to handcraft exquisite harpsichords and fortepianos. Ms. McDonald’s baroque violin was made in the Cremona shop of Nicola Amati, the teacher of Antonio Strndinvnri, nbout 1B70. and is thus exactly contemporary with the Biber “Passacnglia." Mr. Slowik's viola da gnmhn was made by Mntthins Hummel of Number# in 1706; his cello was built in Cremonn in 1696 by Francesco Kugeri.
