Feb. 10: “Researching
Your Slave Ancestors”
On February 10, at 3 p.m. in the Town Hall, The Rappahannock Historical will present a program entitled “Researching Your Slave Ancestors." Karen Hughes White, president of the AfroAmerican Histoncal Society of Fauquier County, will share her expertise on this subject. Refreshments will be served. A $5 donation is requested. Feb. 10: Annual Bland Music Concert
The Rappahannock Lions Club "Bland Music Contest" will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Theatre in Washington, Virginia. Vocalists and instrumentalists in elementary grades through seniors are cordially invited to participate in the annual contest exclusively for Rappahannock County students. Registration forms have been placed with the music directors in each public and private school. Completed forms must be returned no later than February 1. Winners of the contest in elementary/middle school and high school categories in vocal and instrumental divisions will receive cash awards. Director Claire Comer and the PAL Players (formerly the Page County Community Theater, present the side-splitting comedy The Foreigner, by Larry Shue throughout the month of February. Betty Meeks’s fishing lodge in rural Georgia is a sleepy little place - until Charlie Baker (played by Bob Borgie) shows up, speaking a strange language aj)d claiming to understand no English. Charlie suddenly becomes privy to all the town’s secrets, with unexpected and hilarious results. J.D. Cave plays Charlie's friend and confidante, exuberant Staff Sergeant "Froggy" LeSueur. Dinner performances are February 14, 16,19, 28 and 29 at 6 pm. The Dessert Matinee is at 2:30 February 17. . Advance tickets are $35 for dinner theatre and $15 ’for the dessert matinee and are available at LurayPage County Chamber of Commerce, Luray Copy Service and through lnstantSeats.com. Tickets for dinner/dessert theatre are not available at the door. The Box Office at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts opens 45 minutes before the start of the event.
