the original founders of the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a volunteer member of both the rescue squad and fire department.
He took great pride in community service and did charitable work through many organizations including Jaycees and the Lions Club. Mr. Burke loved his store businesses and serving his customers in Rappahannock County. To him. it wasn’t about the business but was about the people he served. He was a devoted husband and father who loved and supported his family,- friends and community
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Burke and his loving daughter, Belinda Burke and her fiance, Luis RodasAmarilla, his sister, Virginia “Jenny” Woodward and her husband. Carl of Rxomoke City MIX and his brother, Winfrey Burke and his wife Doris of Luray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James W. Burke.
A funeral service was held February 3, at Woodville Baptist Church with Pastor Alpheus Atkins officiating.
Interment was followed in Sperryville Cemetery.
