Held 4,215 meetings with students and parents;
• Taken over 400 students to college campuses in Virginia;
• Given workshops on college admissions;
• Provided hundreds of hours of SAT tutoring;
• Brought the SAT to Rappahannock and given it to 385 students;
• Raised over $350,000 in scholarship money;
• Talked with 100 percent of the graduating seniors over the last four years;
• Raised the percentage of students going on to college from below 55 percent in 2005 to well above 70 in the successive years.
Hope recounted asking Amy Silver - a grant writer who helped raise money for the program: “What if this doesn’t work and I blow the $90,000 grant?”
Well, it did work, and Hope leaves the program, and Rappahannock High School, with a changed culture. ».•
