Turner thinks that the journey will raise about $20,000 for those groups. No money will come to him, he said.

“At the end of the trip, Fll just e-mail people who pledged and tell them how many fish we caught, then it’s up to them to honor the pledge directly through the links on our Web site,” he said.

The trip, of course, is more than a little bit about fun and adventure, too.

The Turners are, for the most part, going to “trophy” fishing areas, but other considerations entered into mapping out the trip, too.

As a practical matter, the father and son team has created a route that is doable without their having to drive all night or cut into four hours of daily fishing.

Despite the team’s best effort, “there are probably...six days that are just horrific,” driving days, Turner said

Practicality has not displaced their goal of actually visiting and seriously fishing every state. No state will get . short shrift, just a “checking of the box” that they had been there, Turner said.
