When patients are admitted to Culpeper Regional their identification arm bands now carry bar codes as well. Arm bands and medication will be scanned to make sure that the five basic rights are in place: right patient, right medication, right dose, right time and right route (by mouth, by shot, etc.).
“This is a big initiative for a small community hospital,” said public relations officer Abra Hogarth.
