he is running for Jackson District Supervisor. Atkins, a lifelong resident of Rappahannock County, should be familiar to many people. Despite his full-time job at VDOT, from which he is considering retirement in July after 34 years of service, he is very active in the community. Atkins works part-time on the family farm with his brother, which he has done his entire life.
Thanks to a grant from the Headwaters program, 27 students in Patti Waddell’s Biology II class at Rappahannock High School were certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPRi on May 19. Many of these students, according to Mrs. Waddell, - will be going into health-related fields after they finish school.
Nicely wedged between the afternoon and nighttime land sorely needed) thunderstorms, the success of this year’s Trash-Free Rappahannock was celebrated at John Kiser’s farm on Pophams Ford Road. With barbecuing chicken and cold drinks as a backdrop, Trash-Free issues, past and present, were discussed, and organizers and participants were honored.
