Pvt. Emmanuel J. Pullen, III, “Jay,” 20, son of Emmanuel J. Pullen, Jr., and Beverly Atkins Pullen of Warrenton and Amissville, recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.
Jay is the grandson of Jim and KT Atkins of Culpeper, Allen and Dotty Crane of Warrenton, also the late Manuel J. Pullen, Sr,, and Mary Alice Brady Pullen of Amissville.
He is the great-grandson of the late Moffett H. and Alice Brady of Flint Hill, and the late Virgil and Mary Atkins of Sperryvilie.
Jay is a 2006 graduate of Fauquier High School. His decision to join the USMC was inspired by his personal drive and desire to make a difference by serving his country.
Jay successfully completed 12 weeks of basic training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. While in basic training, he earned the Sharpshooter Medal in Marksmanship. Jay spent
