A little further south in Orange County, more than 700 acres were recently placed into conservation easement at James Madison’s Montpelier by a partnership between the PEC, VOF, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and The Montpelier Foundation.
Jack Snyder, PEC board member and Orange County resident said in a press release that "in the past 20 years, more than 2,000 acres immediately surrounding Montpelier have been placed into conservation easement ”
The four new easements at Montpelier were purchased bv the PEC using private donations and a $700,000 grant from the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation.
