Section 58 1-3 of the Code of Virginia, in fact, makes it a criminal offense punishable by a jail sentence of up to six months for any agent of a local government to “divulge any information acquired by him in the performance o: his duties with the respect to the transactions, property, including personal property, incc.me or business of any person, firm or corporation.”
