In case anyone hasn't noticed, the town of Little Washington has been dying on its feet for the last few years.
“The worst June (financial figures 'I in 32 years" declared by The Inn. comes as no surprise to me, nor should it to the town, who it would seem has put all its eggs in one unfortunate basket. It clearly has placed itself in a tenuous position by installing a sewer system financed by a $4 million state loan, which it was hoped would be payed off largely in part by expected revenue from its largest contributor. The Inn.
Yes. The Inn at Little Washington creates local jobs and is in lots of ways beneficial to the town and the local economy But the other side of the coin is the stagnation, dependency, and lack of competition it creates, which is both shortsighted and in the long term, will be the death knell of the town.
The lack of competition and lack of retail and commercial space that exists in the town is due largely in part by the fact that a large part, of the town is influenced or owned by The Inn. which seems to have created its ow n municipality
