Dr Greer also has taken the lead in addressing drug and alcoholrelated issues with the Rappahannock County Prevention Coalition which was established last March by Greer. Alan Rasmussen and Dani Pond.
The aim of the group is to engage the community and bring families and educators “together to address the problems related to suicide and drug and alcohol abuse."
Adam Burket, principal of Rappahannock County High School, said they also would be bringing in an outside group, The Power Team, to address “positive student choices."
“If they (studentsi break rules, they’re going to get disciplined," he said, -“and if they break the law, we're going to call the law in too."
Last year, the high school saw a rise1 in drugrelated arrests - jumping ! to six from just one the year previous HoweVer, i Burket noted that they ! had taken steps to “pin! point where things happen." and the numbers simply reflected an increase in reporting, not necessarily an increase in ; incidents
On the positive side, Burket said “he’s very I proud of our faculty, stui dents and community.”
The last two out of ■ three years, RCHS has graduated 100 percent of j its students and they want to continue that zero percent drop out rate.
