Greg Czekaj will handle the punting and most likely, the place-kicking duties, while another eighth grader, Tanyon Lee, may do the kickoffs.
While many of the Panthers have limited playing experience, Czekaj praises the work ethic that has been developing.
About three months ago, Rappahannock County started the Bigger, Faster, Stronger program to encourage its students to take their physical fitness seriously. Several football players, along with other athletes, spent their summer in the school’s weight room trying to get in better shape.
The football program's coaching staff has seen a definite improvement in the student athletes on the field.
“The kids who have been really working for the last three or four months, you can see it,” Czekaj said.
A win Friday night means instant dividends for the football program.
