Over 100 friends and supporters of Hospice of the Rapidan turned out in stvle at The Joesph R. Daniel Technology Center in Culpeper to support the hospice’s “A Cornucopia of Care" gala.
It was the annual fundraiser to support compassionate and dignified end-of-life care in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties.
The dinner dance on Oct. 17 honored three area residents who have made a difference in their communities: John James of Orange, Thomas E. Reynolds, M.D of Culpeper and David Snyder, M.D. of Rixeyville.
Proceeds from the event, which exceeded $55,000, will support Hospice of the Rapidan’s longstanding commitment to provide outstanding end-of-life care for every resident of the counties it serves regardless of their ability to pay as well as its comprehensive grief care and educational programs, for which it receives no direct payment.
Thirty area businesses and community leaders sponsored the gala, and 80 other area businesses donated products or services which were offered for auction to gala guests.
Cindy Greene of cbgreene interiors transformed the large technology center, which is a facility of Germanna Community College, into a fall harvest of cornucopias and color. Greene was joined by over 40 Hospice of the Rapidan volunteers who assisted with the gala. The evening’s auctions, run by auctioneer Kathy Shumate of Shumate Auctions, raised over $14,000.
