about this: If gays were allowed to be open in the military, then wouldn’t somebody in the armed forces saying that they're gay instantly call for a label to be placed on them?
Besides the ranking system, everybody should have a sense of equality in the armed forces; there should be neither restrictions nor benefits for your choice of lifestyle, that’s why sexual orientation should be kept far from the military’s concerns.
If you tell gays in the military to come out and say they’re different, then the vital, and often life-saving, camaraderie on the battlefield will suffer. At such a critical and dangerous time like this, is it right that our current administration wants to take a chance at destroying the brotherhood and equality that is so important in each branch of the military just to appease a minority of people? In the end, it will only create more hardships for our military to overcome, and in a conflict like the one we’re fighting overseas, that could be fatal for many of our fighting men and women.
