The “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy was enacted so that anybody, no matter their sexual orientation, could have a chance to serve their country without feeling like or being an outcast for their choice of lifestyle. This policy was enacted to protect homosexuals, while at the same time making those that are not, feel comfortable within the service.
Our current administration is trying too hard to make the minority happy; they’re trying way too hard to put all their policies through quickly without thinking things all the way through. Considering it in a time of peace is one thing, but even the idea of ending this policy right now — while we’re fighting a war without frontlines and an enemy that preys on our every mistake — is most detrimental to the effectiveness of our military, the one thing that stands between us and countless . madmen who want nothing more than to see our downfall as a nation.
