The year’s bazaar is Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Amissville United Methodist Church Social Hall.
Many customers return every year to purchase the fresh pecans which are shipped in literally days after they are harvested. A line at the door forms rain or shine of loyal customers hoping to purchase one of the exquisite egg ornaments crafted and donated by Gerty Poling.
The bazaar’s success is measured not only in dollars, but by seeiiig the warmth and fellowship people feel when they walk through the door. Although the bazaar requires months of work to prepare for each year, the United Methodist Women’s group feels it is important to try and maintain these too often fast disappearing community events from the calendar. “Yes, you can go to the dollar store and buy things produced overseas for less,” comments UMW President Sarah Boelte, “but in this online, hurry-up world we live in, there is just something nice about going to a church bazaar and coming away with a handmade ornament or homebaked
