Partnership was bom. Some of the volunteer partners contributed money - $3,000 from the town of Washington, and $1,000 each from the WHVA, the RNPC and the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community (RAAC). And there was an initial $15,000 investment from the county itself.
Other members of the partnership include McCarthy, representing the county; the Rappahannock Historical Society; Shenandoah National Park; The House on Water Street in Sperryville (represented by Barbara Adolfi) and three other representatives: Bill Gadino of Gadino Cellars, Debbie Donehey from Griffin Tavern and a vacant slot for a representative from the agritourism industry.
Overstreet said the Nov. 20 meeting will cover a presentation on the intended mission and purpose of a visitor center with current successful examples. Though it’s not set up to be a formal public hearing, she said, the public is welcome to attend.
