Laurie Smith and Mark Reinhardt can finally stop living out of their truck.
Actually, the co-founders of Local Flavor do live in a house in Rappahannock Lakes, but they are hoping that the storehouse/office they just opened down the road in Amissville will help cut down on truck time.
Since April 2008, Smith and Reinhardt have been picking up local produce, meats and other products at area farms and delivering them to consumers - from Alexandria to Herndon to Fredericksburg - who’ve placed their orders on Local Flavor’s farmbuyersclub.com Web site.
Smith said the storehouse - in the former general store next to American Road Motorcycles on US. 211 at Viewtown Road - now allows both suppliers and the most local of Local Flavor’s customers to drop or pick up goods at a central location.
Smith and Reinhardt spent the last two months renovating and painting and have installed several refrigerators and chest freezers. They expect to have more cold storage soon. Smith said, including a walk-in freezer and fridge.
