Easily visible in bright orange shirts with ORMS logo, they assist in mountain rescues, help hikers and climbers understand how fragile the mountain’s flora can be (especially when tromping around off-trail) and offer wilderness living tips to novice backpackers.
After 2008, their first season on Old Rag, park rangers saw a significant decline in trash and injuries on the mountain. Among this group are none other than our sons of Rippahannock Andy Nichols and Chad Heddleston. Check out this terrific group at oldragmountainsteward. blogspot.com
Angel Trees
During this wonderful season of giving, please adopt a Rappahannock Senior and make their wishes come true. “Angel Trees” are located at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Rippahannock National Bank and the Rippahannock Library where you may find information on their holiday requests such as warm socks and blankets.
