commission denied Elizabeth Lee-Harris’ application to rezone a 36.4- acre plot of land from agricultural to rural residential, with the intent to subdivide the property into five different plots of land in Sperryville. The commission decided to pass to the Board of Zoning Appeals the application from Harmon Lee and Joan F. Dyer to build a family apartment on their property In the Peyton Farms division of Washington. The commission approved Kevin Day’s application to convert an existing dwelling for use as a real estate office. Also it approved an application by Dave Gillis to amend a zoning ordinance to allow residential care facilities in a conservation zoning district.

With all the villages in Rappahannock County and speed limits varying from 25 mph to 55 mph on major routes, Sheriff Larry Sherertz and his deputies are cracking down on speeding violations. Sherertz reports, “There is a ' problem as far as I’m concerned My deputies have idle or discretionary time during the day and they focus on problematic areas, for burglary protection and for speeding enforcement in the villages "
