Matching Required The Ford grant will be used to make up part of the local match ing fund, but more will be requir ed for the Jvlcttauer completion project, and other alterations, ex pected to total in the vicinity of $200,000. The construction must be uir der contract by April 1 if the hos pital is to qualify for the Hill Burton share. A public subscrip tion drive for funds to augment the other two sources will be launheed this month or in early April, according to the plans of the board of managers. How much the local asking must be will depend on the contract bids received today. The managers will meet in special session to night to act on the bids. Veteran’s Widows Entitled To Pay Figures published this week by the Veterans Administration show that less than half of widows of veterans who died of service con nected causes before January 1, 1957 have applied for the new in creased compensation payments A new law went into effect on the first day of this year author izing greater compensation pay ments to'widows of men who died before January 1. 1957 of causes attributed to service in the armed forces. Payments are increased to a minimum of $122.00 monthly, the rate moyng upward with rank and years of service of the deceased veteran and all differ ences between wartime and peace time rates have been removed.
