Pamplin Puritans Win Certificate For GOC Support A Certificate of Recognition for support of the Ground Observer Corps has been presented to tire Pamplin Ruritan Club. The cer tificate, from the Continental Air Defense Command, was presented by Master Sergeant Ernest S. Fletcher. Richmond Air Defense Filter Center, to Ruritan Presi dent Everett Tibbs. This presentation came to the Pamplin Ruritan Club for its sup port of the Pamplin Ground Ob server Corps post . Pamplin is one of a number of lookout posts scattered at strategic spots throughout the Nation, where ob servers help to fill in the blind spots of the Radar defense sys tem. Radar cannot pick up all planes at low altitudes or behind mountains so the observers fill in here. At the same meeting a movie “Scramble for Grandpa', was shown the group by Sergeant Fletcher. It portrayed some of the problems and values of the Ground Observer Corps. It-H High to Compete State Drama Finals Randolph-Hen; y High School was one of six winning the award of ‘distinguished’ for plays pre sented burin? tin recent District 3 dramatic compc i it ion at Char iottee C. H. With those from the other five schools, the Randolph-Henrv players will represent the district in the state Group II dramatic competition at the University of Virginia Saturday. The R-H play was “A Cup of Tea.” Other schools to compete at the state Group II finals are Black stone. Bluest one. Crewe, Park View and Victoria. Buckingham-C e n 11 a 1 a n d Greensville County plays won su perior ratings at the district com petition.
