Their enrollments have reached or sur passed the GOO-student mark, which separates the two groups-. The four will increase to 40 the number of Virginia high schools competing in the Group I classification. Chester an ; Churchland, the former in foot ball and basketball and the latter in basketball, have been a thorn in the sid? of District 2 and 3, Group II schools in this area for some time. New Group II Schools But there is no respite for the weary, the four to leave will Ire replaced with others. The Group II board will admit Chuckatuk. Holland. Whaleyville and. Wind sor. which have outgrown Group III classification. G. O. McGhee, principal of Randolph-Henry High at Char lotte C. H.. and O. A. Norton. Amelia principal, will represent District 3 during the Group II board deliberations. McGhee is District 3 chairman this year and Norton is secretary. Other proposals expected to come before the Group II board are: the selection of annual bask etball tournament sites; permit ting earlier start for football prac tice. and changes in athletic elig ibility. Mixed Group Talks When the Group I representa tives meet, the matter of chang ing Uie state baskeball tourna ment procedure is expected to come. up. One of the proposals to be presented as a substitute to the unpopular five-team tourney now sanctioned will be a state wide open tourney competition eliminating the Group I. II and III classifications. Th? new Virginia Coaches As sociation is expected to be launch ed during the Charlottesville ses sion as a division of the Virginia High School League. It would pro vide a separate discussion code arid suggestion forum for the athletic coaches in Virginia High Schools. The Virginia High School League is composed of governing boards for the Group I. II and III organizations acting separately and a legislative council combin ing them into one policy making body. Decisions at- the League lev el are binding on member schools. Edward Morton, 53, Drowns Near Bristol Edward Morton, 53, brother of Mrs. C. T. Fleenor, of Farmville. drowned Wednesday afternoon in Holston Lake, near Bristol, Tenn. He went fishing alone warly in the afternoon, and during mid afternoon a motorist passing the lake reported that an unattended motor boat was spinning around m the lake. Investigation let to the recovery of the body in 300 feet of water later in the after-, noon. Mr. Morton, a native of Bristol was engaged in the grocery bus iness with his brother. He is sur vived by several brothers and sis ters. among whom is Mrs. Fleenor. Funeral arrangements had not been completed Thursday morn ing.
