The annual Christmas Mai sale of the Virginia Tuberculosis Association will supply funds far a health campaign which has just ■been warmly endorsed by Virginia's new State health commissioner.
The executive, Dr. Mack L. Shamholtz, says: “The State Health Department regards the Virginia Tuberculosis Association and its affiliates as powerful allies in its campaign against tuberculosis. The Tuberculosis Association has always been both eager and able to cooperate in promotional and educational aspects of our Control Program to supplement Health Department personnel and funds in the carrying out of an ever-increasing number of casefinding projects, and to assist in the conducting of chest clinics, to say nothing of a well-known willingness to underwrite emergencies of every type."
Dr. Shamholtz’s statement was pointed out by Robert Barrie, executive director of the Virginia Tuberculosis Association, as a sign of the effective cooperation between the State and the publicsupported local tuberculosis associations throughout Virginia in the effort to wipe out TB.
“The local associations are doing a job that must be done if we are to make headway against the disease," Barrie said. “I hope that) all Virginians will realize that in responding to the 1961 Christmas) Seal sale of tuberculosis associations throughout Virginia."
