For Ewes Due To Lamb
Ewes due to lrfhb within the next month should be getting ex‘tra grain now, says George Litton, associate animal husbandman at V.P.I.
Ewes which are allowed to lose weight in late pregnancy are subject to lambing paralysis, Litton warns.
The ewes should get about 1/4 pound extra grain daily from about a month before lambing up until about a week before, when the extra ration should be increased to about 1/2 pound. . If pastures are skimpy, the ewes also should be given some legume hay such as alfalfa, lespedeza, or clover.
