The name of Leonardo da Vincii has been added to the historic:
- folklore of Virginia's Yorktown-| Williamsburg area along with George Washington and Lord; Cornwallis. Engineers of U. S.j Steel's American Bridge Division,< using the pivot bridge principle developed in the fifteenth century! by the famed Italian artist-inventor, are putting the finishing touches on the world's largest double swing span. Linking U. S. Route 17 between Yorktown and Gloucester Point, the new bridge, .above, swings to open a 500-foot channel enabling sea-going vessels ’to navigate the York River. The project is the largest single undertaking by the Virginia Department of Highways. Right is a •podel of the original da Vinci Sridge which has been on exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts at Richmond.
