New Regulations From
Selective Service Board
A. C. Latham, chairman of Selective Service local .board 102, Rappahannock County, pointed out today that the Universal Military Training and Service Act aa amended June 19, 1951, provides that a registrant who was on June 19, 1951 ( in a deferred classification, or who thereafter ia placed in a deferred classification, under the provisions of the Act will remain liable for training and service in the armed forces until the thirty-fifth anniversary of the date of their birth.
Mr. Latham went on to say that prior to June 19, 1951, the law required the deferment of conscientious objectors iwho were opposed to both combat and noncombat service, and authorized the deferment of registrants who had wives only. To such registrants extension of liability does not apply since those deferments are not now authorized by law.
