Art Exhibit At First Concert
The first concert program at Avon Mills twill be Aug. 3, (an extra pro gram) at 4:30 p.m. A vocal and violin recital featuring Irene Hammerstron Haaker, (soprano and Leroy Mathuring, violinist, accompanist, Joan Euren of Richmond. The first cert goers to hear the Baldwin Conopportunity for the Avon Mills con cert Grand Piano, recently acquired from Baldwin Piano Company. It is understood that this piano shipped from Boston has been used by he Boston Symphony.
Twenty-One original paintings by Virginia contemporary artists have been given to the Haakers to be displayed at the mill. This most valuable collection was presented by Leslie Chee^, director of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. This is in line with the policy as set forth by the Board of Virginia Symphony Orchestra to stimulate and nature artistic efforts in the various aristic medium.
George Muth of Washington, D. C. and Woodville, an art supply dealer, is serving on this committee. Paint mgs by Frank Bowman of Warrenton will also 1* on exhibit.
