A tour of the Piedmont Experiment Station at Orange by Rappahannock farmers is being, planned for Monday, July 28. Those making the tour will assemble at the Court House in Washington by not later than 8:30 a.m. time of departure.
Indications are that a goodly unmber of our farmers will attend, however, it is hoped Rappahannock will exceed or at least equal the delegation from Culpeper (62) who recently studied the experiments being conducted. Some of the things of importance particularly to Rappahannock are: varietal tests of Orchard grass and alfalfa as well as ferilization rates and analysis, pasture studifes, fertilization rates in rotation, chemical weed control etc. Come along, this will help tremendously to keep up with new facts in agriculture being through research. _ __
Tlie Institute of Rural Affairs will be held at Blacksburg Jhly 30-31 and August 1. Cost will be $1 per nite for lodging, meals 60c each with a $1.50 registration iee. Contact me if you’d like to go along Mr. Farmer. I am sure it will be well worth your while.
Some of the high-lights of this year’s Institute are;
As in years past, they will have their choice of three sessions each morning to attend—economics, youth, and family life.
Evening speakers will be: Dr. R. F.Chandler, president of the University of New Hampshire, on Thursday, July 31; and Senator A. E. S. Stephens, veteran legislator from Smithfield, on Friday, August 1. Dr. Chandler will discuss the general theme of the Institue “The LandGrant College Serves the People.”
