Amissville Fire Company
To Sponsor Carnival
At a special meeting of the newly-organized Amissville Fire Company plans were revealed for a benefit carnival to be held Friday and Saturday,'September 26 and 27.
During the carnival an auction will be held, consisting of a wide variety of articles, ordinary and useful as well as valuable and rare, contributed by people of the community supporting the new fire company.
During the meeting several committees were formed. The committee to receive articles for the auction is made up of Assistant Fire Chief Elmer Jenkins, chairman; Edward Tapp, John Tapp, E. G. Hackley, Robert Jacobs, Jeremiah Atkins, Jr.* W. R. Latham, Bobby Boggs, and L. H. Luttrell. The auctioneer will be Edward Pawley, assisted by Braxton James.
President Thomas Tear also appointed a carnival equipment committee consisting of Fire Lieutenant Mitchell Green, chairman; W. A. Laing, Jr., Ronnie Poe, Floyd Hitt, Lloyd Bywaters, and Thomas Stover. ------..Lieutenant
Green promised a full complement of carnival games plenty of fun for everyone young and old, and prizes to boot.
Having obtained a second hand fire engine from the District of Columbia, company members are now searching for housing.
