Where Of A Man Speaks

Today there are many worthy articles appearing in agricultural publications on soils. People, particularly Rappahannock fanners, are becoming keenly interested in soils which fact is most pleasing. Pleasing because our soils in their natural state or man caused conditions, affect us all.

Sometimes these articles contain terminology or nomenclature which is unfamiliar to the reader unless he or she be a soils technician. Neither you nor I can truly learn unless we know where of a man speaks. I’m interested in soils; you are interested in soils; you are interested in soils, prehaps the following may be fundamentally simple to you but frankly I had to do some reading . . . ask some questions, express my interpretation to others and get theirs to make more sure that words and phrases were having their intended meaning to me.

Now I will attempt to explain below what is meant by some of the * terms used in articles published on soils and characteristics of soils with hope that my scant knowledge on the subject may give a greater understanding to some of you.
