Charles R. Brown, 18, s<in of Mr. and Mrs. Maury W. Brown of Sperryville, joined the Army on October 16 for a period of 2 years. _ CHhfrles was a graduate of Rappahannock County High School last year. Due to the increase in the number of personnel being separated from the service, the Army and Air Force are in great need for qualified young men. If you want to learn a trade and continue your education while serving your country, you can get all the information from the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force Recruiting Station at the Post Office at Culpeper.
PV.S.C.S. BOX SUPPER
The W.S.C.S. held a very enjoyable "Box Supper” at Halloween in Palmer’s Store in Amissville. Mr. Pawley was a very captivating auctioneer and caused spirited bidding. It was hard to decide whose disguise was the most gruesome. About $60 was realized and every one seemed to enjoy the occasion.
ENTERTAINS AT DINNER
Mr and Mrs. Jack Bruce entertained on Saturday evening at dinner in honor of Mrs. John Singleton and Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Smedley at their home, Jackson Hill. Their guests were Mr. .and Mrs. Lawton Blankenbaker of Madson, Mr. and Mrs}. D. Lyle Miller Jr.„ Mr. and Mrs. Leon Greenaway, Mrs Annie Bruce, and Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Miller.
