t or the story as found in the Gospel of Luke is not a creation of fanciful imagination. It is an historical fact, surrounded by historical facts..many of which are not pleasant. From the beginning, there was conflict; a struggle for survival itself.

In a stanza of a hymn by Isaac Watts, we read, and sing: “See from his head, his hands, his

feet, , Sorrow and love flow mingled

down: Did e’er such love and sorrow

meet, Or thorns compose so rich a

crown ?”

Watts was not writing from fanciful imagination! He waS writing of a child in Bethlehem, who from birth to death, came to grips with the worst in man, and brought forth the very best.
