Yet the man persisted, “Sir, have you no sort of shelter? My wife is with child and her time is near. The chilly night air will certainly be harmful. She is very tired.”

Helping his wife dismount, the man turned his head to thank the keeper. But the keeper, overcome with an unexplainable emotion, hurried out, not hearing.
