The heavy growth of green vegetation, plus the less frequq.it occurrence of high winds, as well as an increase in humidity contribute t<f-the decrease in fire danger in the summer months. They caution however, .that in summer periods of drought, fire danger can increase and cause critical damage to wooded areas.

The helicopter wTas hauled to. the site of the demonstration on a trailer, arriving in the county on Tuesday. A craft of this typewhile looking fragile weighs approximately 3,000 pounds. It is capable of speeds from 20 to 150 MPH, but cruises at about 50. The plane was new and cost in the neighborhood of $16,000. Damage w’as estimated at $7,000.
The aerial spraying demonstration was being conducted by the Rappahannock Farmers Cooperative as representative of a chemical spray manufacturing company.
