He emphasized that there would be no charge for a call under these circumstances or whenever a number cannot be reached. He also pointed out that there would be no change in the manner of placing calls within the local calling area of the above mentioned exchanges. Washington, Virginia is the only exchange in the group of Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company exchanges that will have a number change. All subscribers numbers in that exchange will now be made a seven digit number. New number cards have been mailed to subscribers of that exchange with instructions to place them ori their dials on June 4th.
