An Inscriptions, on a bronxo tablet reads "Peyton Anderson of the Kr.] ,aKinr.ok Cavs’ry was seTerely wounded on picket duty 122 fee* N. W. of this spot May 1!7, 1861. 'i he first soldier of the South to s:.ed his b!ood for the Confederacy. Erected by Fairfax Chapter U. D. t. May 27, 1927."
