The Northern Virginia Foxhunters Association, by invitation from Sam Hall, Sheriff of Fauquier County, will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Court House at Warrenton on Friday, February 15.While details were not available at our last contact with President Bob Apperson a program which should prove most interesting was in the process of development.
Bob also r eported there was a strong possibility the Virginia Foxhunter's Association would accept the invition from our group to hold the State Field Trials and Bench Show in this area the last week in October. Directors of the state organization will look over the proposed hunting grounds either the latter part of this month or early in March. Tentative plans, should the Northern Virginia be successful in their bid, call for the Bench Show to be held at Culpeper Enterprises where hounds will be kenneled.
In recent years the Virginia State has been held at South Boston and Chase City. A very colorful event, this trial usually attracts 275-325 of the best foxhounds from Virginia and bordering states. Derby hounds, those whelped after January 1 of the preceding year, and All Age hounds are cast together but scored separately for three hunts held on consecutive days. The cast for each hunt is at daybreak and lasts for five hours unless the Master of Hounds deems it wise to call the hunt off earlier due to weather con. ditions.
